CMYK Converter
Convert between CMYK — the four ink channels used in printing — and the RGB and hex values screens use. The two models work in opposite directions: screens add light to reach white, while inks absorb it to reach black. That's why a colour that glows on screen can look flat in print, and why this conversion is a starting point rather than a guarantee.

Screens mix light and printers mix ink, so this is a mathematical conversion, not a colour-managed one. Printed output will differ — ask your printer for an ICC profile if the match has to be exact.

CMYK Converter — frequently asked questions
Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Key — Key being black. Printers use a separate black ink because mixing the three colours gives a muddy dark brown rather than a true black, and because black ink is far cheaper than three coloured ones.
