Meta Tag Generator

Fill in a title and description and get the block of HTML that goes in your page's head. The useful part isn't the markup — it's the length check: titles are cut off around 60 characters and descriptions around 160, and a truncated snippet is the first thing a searcher sees. This flags both as you type, along with the robots directive and canonical link that decide whether the page gets indexed at all.

Result

Add a title or a description to build the tags.

Nothing is uploaded — this tool runs inside your browser, so your files never leave your device.

Why use this tool

  • Title, description, author, robots and canonical in one block
  • Live warnings when a title or description will be truncated in search results
  • Robots presets for the four combinations of index and follow
  • Runs in your browser — page copy you paste in is never uploaded

How it works

  1. 1Enter the page title and meta description.
  2. 2Add the canonical URL, and pick a robots setting if the page shouldn't be indexed.
  3. 3Copy the tags into the <head> of your page.

Meta Tag Generator — frequently asked questions

Aim for 30–60 characters. Google measures pixel width rather than characters, so a title full of wide letters can be cut shorter than one of the same length in narrow ones — 60 is the safe approximation. Under 30 usually means you are leaving useful, relevant words unused.
